Quote:
Here we go again this time the Catholic bishops want to have a say on legislation with the formation of what they call Congressmen-Bishops Forum.
The rationale of this forum is supposedly that every legislation by Congress has a moral dimension. Its true that legislation or laws made by man should be based on moral and spiritual laws.
But, this doesnt mean that the Church must be consulted, much less should the Church blur that line that separates the Church and the state. Otherwise, we retrogress to the Dark Ages when the Church ruled the state.
The Catholic Church has been complaining about more and more of the faithful, especially the young, not going to church. The reason is a confluence of factors poverty, where people would rather earn a living than go to Mass, and the frequent intrusion of bishops and priests into politics. The fact is that people are getting sick and tired of bishops and priests intruding into the political arena.
It all boils down to the fact that the Philippine Catholic Church has strayed from its principal and main mission of evangelization. More of the faithful not going to church? Blame the politicized bishops and priests.
Congressmen-Bishops Forum.
